2015 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Monday 12th October

19.00 – 20.00

at

Tongham Village Hall

Notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting for Tongham Village Hall.

This meeting is open to the public and we look forward to members of the community attending to express there views on the continuing improvement programme and the committees reports on the operations for the year ended

Have you any ideas for fundraisers? Here’s your chance to let us know!

Have you got a couple of hours to spare per month? Every year we re-elect the Management Committee on the night. Why not stand for election or just help us out occasionally with our activities?

Could you help us by being a keyholder? This simply means opening the hall for one-off hires, checking that all is in order and locking up afterwards. We’d really appreciate your help!

We look forward to hearing your views and to having your continued support for Tongham Village Hall.

Tongham Hop Trail

Heritage Open Days is a successful annual event which celebrates our nation's and our area's architecture and culture, and will take place nationally from 6 to 9 September.

Tongham Village Hall is pleased to participate in this year's Heritage Open Days by organising a free exhibition called "Tongham: A Photographic Retrospective" showing you a collection of wonderful historical photos of your village. This exhibition is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday 8 and 9 September, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. We will also be serving teas, coffees and cakes from our newly refurbished kitchen. Entrance to the hall and the photo exhibition is free; there will be a nominal charge for teas and coffees. Do come and visit your village hall and see how much it has been improved in the past few years!

In this same Heritage Open Days context John and I have also devised a wonderful "Tongham Hop Trail" self-guided walk where you and your family and friends can discover even more of the history of where you live, and its connections to the hop trade. This walk takes you through the streets of Tongham past our many historical buildings and into Tongham Community Wood where your children can participate in a free nature quiz. You can download the "Tongham Hop Trail" brochure from the Guildford Borough Council website, here: http://www.guildford.gov.uk/HERITAGEOPENDAYS or here:  Tongham Hop Trail map [4Mb]

Also participating in the "Tongham Hop Trail" and in Heritage Open Days are these fine Tongham institutions:

The White Hart pub – www.thewhiteharttongham.co.uk

Details of Tongham Open Days events and opening times can be found in Guildford Borough Council's Heritage Open Days brochure, which you can download here:  Heritage Open Days brochure 2012 [4Mb].

We look forward to welcoming you to Tongham Village Hall and to participating in the life of your village!
