World Jazz Collective (previously Strodes World Jazz Project) provides training and participation for aspiring jazz musicians of a reasonable standard who can read music. Band rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings in Christ Church, Virginia Water. The collective plays occasional gigs at pubs and clubs in north Surrey.
Instruments played by the collective include flutes, saxophones, trumpets, trombone, piano, vibraphone, guitar, bass guitar, drums and percussion, there is also a vocalist.
New musicians are welcome and we particularly need a guitarist.
Music styles include jazz, funk, swing, latin and world music. Leader Martin Pyne has written several original pieces for the band.
