Stoneleigh Community Library is a collaboration between Surrey County Council and the Friends of Stoneleigh Library - a charitable association specifically formed to ensure that Stoneleigh continues to have a vibrant community library which is an enriching and responsive resource for all.

From Monday 18th February, we are promoting ecological awareness with a series of displays and activities in the Libray. These will include:




Children's Author Event & Eco Craft Workshop

Wednesday 20th February 10.00-12.00


Daring Droplets


Author Tina Talbot will be coming in to read from her book "The Daring Droplets : World Water Cycle Team" along with environmentalist Reema Ajmera.


The event cost just £2 a child which also includes a £2 off voucher for the author's book. Accompanying parents are free. Collage, watercolour and design crafts will be available for all the children.  Parents/Carers must stay with all under 8's during the event.


Please Note: Advance booking is essential - in person at the library or via email to including number of children attending and ages.



Rhyme and Storytime ECO Special

Friday 22nd February 2pm — 3pm


Bring your younger children along to our free extended session of rhymes, stories and songs suitable for 0-5yr olds. There will be some ECO themed craft activities included.  Older siblings are welcome to come along too.  No need to book, just turn up.


Talks on Plastic Recycling and Recycling in Epsom & Ewell

Thursday 7th March 2pm — 4pm


Glass Bottles for Recylcing


Local environmentalist Reema Ajmera and a representive of Epsom & Ewell Council's Waste Services Team will be giving two free talks: Reema will be telling us about about plastic recycling and the council officer will be telling us how the council is implementing the UK's New Waste Strategy and how you can help improve our local recycling efforts.


The speakers will be happy to answer all your waste related questions after their talks.



No need to book, just show up! However demand may be high, so please come early.

Regular Activities:
Monday Storybox:    

Stories and crafts with a different theme each week. Suitable for children aged from 18 months up to 4 years accompanied by a parent or carer. Storybox runs during term-time only on Mondays 10 - 11am, however there are often Storybox special events over half-term and other holidays.


Friday and Saturday Rhymetimes: 


Library rhymetime sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers, aged under five, along with their parents and carers. The events are based entirely on sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and percussion music. It is fun, interactive and noisy! Friday Rhymetime includes stories.


Fridays      14:00 - 14:30
Saturdays  11:15 - 11:45


Creative Writing Group: 

This small but welcoming group meets meets monthly on a Friday 14:30 - 15:45 and is for anyone interested in improving their creative writing skills, even if they have not much writing experience. Any pieces submitted will be read and then sympathetically discussed.


Next Meeting: Friday 8th March 14:30 - 16:00.
