What happens in the Village

Just to get the ball rolling, and to add to the OVRA events listed here, the following is a list of some of the activities that we know go on in the village.  If your Onslow Village club or society isn't mentioned here, get a representative to mail us, or send us the relevant web address.

  • Onslow Village Garden Club

    ...is a friendly group who enjoy gardens and welcome new members.  If you like plants, admire flowers, grow or eat veg, why not join them?  The Club meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in Onslow Village Hall, Guildford.

  • Onslow Village Lawn Tennis Club

    The club has four well-maintained all-weather courts which are floodlit and playable until 9.30pm, so at the Club tennis is an all-year-round sport.  It has a comfortable and welcoming clubhouse.

  • The 5th Guildford Scout Group

    Has its headquarters in the Scout Hut in the Recreation ground.  The hut is also used by other local groups.

  • Onslow Village Womens Institute - the W.I.

    meet on the first Wednesday of the month at the Village Hall..

  • Onslow Football Club

  • Worplesdon Rangers Football Club

  • Guildford Folk Dancers

    meet on Thursday evenings  (as from 11th September) at All Saints Church Hall, Vicarage Gate, from 8.00  p.m. to 10.15 p.m.  The Club welcomes beginners, as well as experienced  dancers, either with/without partners.

Users of the Village Hall - these include....

  • The Arts Society Guildford

    ...is a friendly, lively and welcoming group, who come together 10 times a year primarily for illustrated lectures on the decorative and fine arts.  Their aim is to promote the knowledge, appreciation and care of the arts through these lectures.   • Guildford Harmony

    ...is a 35-strong female a cappella choir.  If you are organising the musical entertainment for any event, they can offer you something a little out of the ordinary.  Alternatively, if you can sing in tune and carry your part, why not join them? For info see contact details.

  • Guildford Travel Club

    Whether you’re a ‘seasoned’ traveller or an ‘armchair’ traveller you’ll find a warm welcome at Guildford Travel Club!  From October to April travel effortlessly to a wide variety of destinations, transported by wonderful photography projected onto a large screen.

  • Guildford Scottish Dance Club

    Scottish Dancing keeps both your mind and body healthy!  The dance club welcome visitors and new members; they can guarantee you an entertaining evening, with a friendly group of people.

    This is the Guildford Local Group of the RSPB. RSPB local groups are a great way to meet friendly, like-minded people in your area while learning more about birds and wildlife.
