When you add an application to your site, it automatically appears in the navigation menu (apart from polls which never appear in the navigation menu).

You can prevent an application from appearing in the menu if you want to. There are several reasons why you might want to do this:

  • You might want keep your menu as simple as possible.
  • You might want the application to be 'low profile' on your site and so not appear in main navigation menu.
  • You might want to use the application to just provide content for an includelet (for example, you might add the feeds application and use it with the feeds includelet) - in this case you probably wouldn't want visitors to see the application itself.

Remember - if you prevent an application from appearing in the site menu, you'll need to add some links to it elsewhere if you want visitors to use it.
