Usually you will use the SurreyCommunity.info editor to write your text. However, sometimes you may want to use text from another web page or text that has been written with Microsoft Word or a similar program.

Unfortunately, when you cut and paste text from other places into your web page you may find that there are some problems:

  • the text may be difficult to edit and format within the SurreyCommunity.info editor
  • some browsers might be unable to display your page properly

The SurreyCommunity.info editor includes two buttons (paste as plain text and paste from Word) that allow you to safely use text from other pages or programs.

IMPORTANT: Using these buttons may remove some or all of the the formatting from the text that you are pasting. In order to make sure that your page will display properly for all browsers, you should use these buttons and then use the editor to re-apply the formatting.

These buttons are designed to work with text. If the content that you want to paste includes other items such as pictures or tables, you should copy and paste just the text. Once that has been added to your page, use the editor to add pictures, tables, links etc. Although this may seem more work, this will give you much better results than trying to copy and paste the entire content.
