Pictures are a great way of livening up your pages and are easy to add.

You can either add pictures that you have saved on your computer or pictures that have been stored in your site's assets library.

To add a picture to your page:

  1. Open the page that you want to add the picture to
  2. In the editor, click where you want to add the picture (don't worry if you get this slightly wrong, you can alter it later)
  3. Click the insert/edit picture button.
    Insert/edit image button
  4. The insert/edit image box will appear on the screen. Click the browse button to the right of the image URL box.
    Image browse button
  5. The pick image box will appear. This lists all of the pictures in your site's assets library (if you have just started to use SurreyCommunity.info, there won't be any pictures listed yet - as you add pictures to your site, they will automatically be added to the assets library and will appear in the list).

You can either choose one of the pictures from the list or add a new one.

To choose a picture from the list

  • Hover your mouse over the names in the list to see a preview of the pictures
  • Click on a picture's name to select it
  • You'll be returned to the insert/edit picture box. Enter a description for the picture (this will help search engines find your image) and click insert.

To add a new picture

Note: you'll need have the picture that you want to add saved somewhere on your computer before you begin.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the pick image box to the section labelled Or add a new image.
  • Type a name for the picture into the File name box (try to choose a meaningful name that describes the content of the image - keep it reasonably short, under 25 characters).
  • Click on the browse button and locate the picture on your computer.
  • Click the save and publish button (the picture will now be added to your asset library so you can choose it from the list next time).
  • You'll be returned to the insert/edit picture box. Enter a description for the picture (this will help search engines find your image) and click insert.
