Using RSS feeds
RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest updates and changes in one place, as soon as they are published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from.
Sites on SurreyCommunity.info provide RSS feeds for some of their content.
To use feeds you'll need something called a feed reader (also know as a news reader). This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added.
You probably won't need to obtain additional software as many web browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, have built-in feed readers.
How to subscribe to a feed
Click on the feed link - if your browser supports feeds it will then normally display the feed and offer to store it for easy access at a later date. Feed links use this icon:
Other ways of subscribing to a feed include:
- Cut and paste the address of the feed into your news reader (or your web browser if it supports feeds)
- Bookmark the page using an web browser that supports feeds
