WEDNESDAY 4th OCTOBER  2017  EASTBOURNE

"Oh to be beside the seaside"  -  well, almost,  with a visit to the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne. ln the galleries,  there will be an exhibition on New, Always and Tomorrow and another  exhibition  of photos  and pictures  on Sussex  open landscape.  There will also be a 45 minute guided tour of the private Art Store (party will be divided into three groups).  Hopefully,  coffee  on arrival and several restaurants  nearby and a caf6 at the gallery for fufther drinks and food.

THURSDAY 2ND NOVEMBER 2017   QUEENS GALLERY: CANALETTO  AND THE ART OF VENICE

The Royal Collection  was transformed in the 1770's, thanks  to the efforts of Joseph  Smith, the British Consul in Venice, as this exhibition  demonstrates. Over several  decades, he built up an outstanding art collection by acquiring  OId Master  Paintings  and drawings. Smith is known for his unofficial paftnership with Canaletto,  with the largest  holding  of paintings,  drawings and etchings  by the aftist. George lll's acquisition  of Consul Smith's collection  was his greatest purchase,  which transformed  the Royal Collection.

Coffee and lunch available nearby. Following the visit, we will go to the V & A  -  lots to see there.

FRIDAY 1st DECEMBER  2017             NATIONAL  PORTRAIT GALLERY: PAUL CEZANNE

The major new exhibition, Cezanne Portraits, will bring together, for the first time ever, over 50 of
Cezanne's portraits from collections across the world, including  works which have never been on
display in the U.K. The exhibition will be of himself  and his wife, Hortense  Fiquet, a remarkable  portrait of his Uncle Dominique dating from the 1860's through to his final porlrait of Vallier,  who helped Cezanne in his garden and studio at Les Lauves, Aix-en-Provence.

An extra visit has been aranged on Friday 29th September  2017 11 - 1 PM and 2 - 4 PM to:

SIDNEY SIME MEMORIAL GALLERY.  WORPLESDON

The Friends  paid for two of Sidney Sime's pictures to be restored  and these are now back in the
Gallery.  lf you would like to visit the Gallery on a special Open Day for us, please complete the
form and return to Barbara Logan. No transport is provided. The Gallery  is paft of Worplesdon Village Hallwhich is situated  on the main road through  Worplesdon, (Worplesdon  Place Hotel on right and Hall a little way past on left).
