Ewell Astronomical Society was founded by Phil Ringsdore in 1966 with Sir Patrick Moore as its patron. Following Sir Patrick's death in 2012 Professor Ian Morison accepted an invitation to become the society's patron. A position he still holds.
Ewell astronomical Society meetings are held on the second Friday of each month in the library at Nonsuch High School for Girls in Cheam. Access is via the meeting entrance marked on the left. For School observing sessions please use the Main Entrance opposite the car park. Larger map here.
Attendance at the monthly meetings is £1 for members and £5 for non members.
The society has use of an 11 inch SCT in the observatory on the roof of the school.
We have regular observing sessions at the school, at Nonsuch Park and Ranmore Common.
We can provide talks and demonstrations for schools and groups such as Brownies, Cubs, Scouts and Guides.
