What is East Surrey Dial-a-Ride: A not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee (Registered No 3741541) and a Registered Charity (No 1076051) which has operated since 1989. Our service uses our own wheelchair accessible minibuses.
Who can travel with East Surrey Dial-a-Ride: Only members of East Surrey Dial-a-Ride (or their carers) can travel on our vehicles. Membership is available to all residents living in the CR3 & CR6 Postcodes covering the communities of Caterham Hill & Valley, Chaldon, Chelsham, Farleigh, Hamsey Green, Warlingham, Whyteleafe & Woldingham who have difficulty in using public transport due to a disability or old age. The scheme operates on a pre-booked basis provided the booking has been made before 12.30pm on the day before you wish to travel. Our service operates between 09.00 & 17.00 hrs Monday to Friday.
What types of journeys can I undertake with East Surrey Dial-a-Ride: You may travel to attend Caterham Dene Hospital, clinics, visit doctors/dentists etc, supermarkets, shops, garden centres, libraries, friends & relatives, hairdressers, local clubs, pubs or restaurants etc. East Surrey Dial-a-Ride transports many users of The Douglas Brunton Day Centre, The Miller Centre in Caterham, Bletchingley Clubs at:- The Byre, The Village Hall & The Skills Centre, Also we visit The Woodhouse Centre in Oxted, The Dementia Club in Farleigh and Warlingham Lunch Club. Excursions are operated on most Mondays throughout June to October to the Coast and other places of interest and occasionally at other times of the year.
Where can I travel: Anywhere within 7 miles of your home provided the destination is within the area of Tandridge District Council. Journeys to more distant parts of Tandridge and journeys to places outside the area of Tandridge District Council will be provided if capacity is available.
Can I bring a carer/escort or guide dog with me: Yes, provided you tell us at the time you make your booking. There would be no additional charge for your guide dog but an additional charge would be made for a carer/escort when travelling on an Outing. Where practical our drivers will assist you on and off the vehicle. A carer/escort may accompany you at no extra charge to assist you to carry your shopping etc.
What limitations are there on travel with East Surrey Dial-a-Ride: Although we will transport you to Caterham Dene Hospital if you have an outpatient appointment, the service is not intended to take you to and from other local Hospitals as a patient although we will take you as a visitor.
What does it cost: Our joining membership fee is £7 with cheques payable to East Surrey Dial-a-Ride. This is renewable annually on 1 November at a rate of £5. Fares for each single journey are calculated as £1.20 per mile with a minimum fare of £3.20 for a single or return journey. However fares outside the “7 miles within Tandridge District Council” will be determined on an individual basis and fares should be requested at the time of booking. All fares are paid to the Driver. We are, alas, unable to accept Concessionary Bus Passes.
How do I book a journey: You can use our Booking Line (01883 349001) to book a journey up to 7 days before you wish to travel. An answerphone operates when we are busy or when the office is closed. We accept bookings in person by visitors to our office at the Brunton Centre between 9.30pm to 4.00pm. If you need to cancel a booking please contact our Booking Line as soon as possible.

How is East Surrey Dial-a-Ride funded: We are no longer funded by our County or District Council. Our Income comes from fares, local businesses/organisations and donations from individuals. However balancing our books is proving extremely challenging in the present economic climate and you could help us more if you added a donation to your membership fee and, if you pay Income/Capital Gains Tax, sign the Gift Aid Declaration. We can claim Gift Aid on your membership fee as well as on any donation.
