The Society runs three competitive shows each year in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Shows provide the opportunity for those with a wide range of talents to demonstrate their skills with classes covering flowers, fruit, vegetables, cookery, floral arrangement, photography and handicrafts. If you have never exhibited before then there are novice classes plus a range of children’s classes. There is a small fee of 20p per entry, children’s classes are free. Shows are held at St. Martin’s Junior School, Ashley Road, Epsom, KT18 7AD. Opening to the public from 2.00 - 4.30pm. In addition there are plants for sale, refreshments and a raffle. For more details contact Jill Farnham.
The Epsom Garden Flower Arranging Club closed in December 2015, but there is still a Flower Arrangement section of the garden society. Follow the link for details.
Monthly Meetings with Guest Speaker
Meetings are held on the third Monday of Spring & Autumn months in St Barnabas Church Hall, Temple Road, Epsom starting at 8pm. Topics range over the whole field of gardening, including design, cultivation, conservation and wild life. Speakers are acknowledged experts in their fields and talks are usually illustrated with slides. There is a small entry fee of £1 for which you also get refreshments and entry to a raffle (see events calendar for full details of this year’s programme). This year during the summer months of June, July and August the monthly meetings have been replaced by visits to gardens of interest and there are no meetings during the cold winter months of January & February. The November meeting is our AGM & the December meeting is usually a members evening.
The Open Gardens Group
If you enjoy visiting gardens and would like the opportunity to gain advice and ideas in a relaxed informal atmosphere then this is the group for you. Each year a small number of members open their gardens for viewing, providing an excellent opportunity to see what grows well in a variety of soils and situations. Members also exchange plants and seeds.
For more details contact Margaret Haslam.
