In the beginning....
The Coldharbour Village Band was formed in September 2014 with a group of 30 villagers, most of whom had never played an instrument before. The goal was to be able to play 3 Christmas carols in December. This was achieved by having group lessons on Saturday mornings each week until the end of November, then 3 full band sessions prior to the grand performance. This was held on December 14th and 29 villagers played. The occasion was a huge success with all but one band member continuing to learn, plus 3 new members starting in January.
Xmas 2015 was another very successful concert with over 35 band members playing. Please go to this link to see photos of the 2015 Christmas Concert.
During 2016 the band played at several functions including the Queen's 90th Birthday celebrations, Village fete, Village day and various concerts. Please go to this link to see the pictures 2016 Coldharbour Village Band.
The band consists of flutes, clarinets, saxophones, recorders, tuba, euphonium, tenor horn, trumpet, cornet and percussion. Plus one unusual instrument called a taragota. Anyone who lives in the village and plays a wind or percussion instrument is welcome to join. For more information please contact Debby on 711704.
