Discrimination occurs when someone makes or sees a distinction because of another person's age, belief, disability, gender, race or sexual orientation. They then use this as a basis for prejudice and/or unfair treatment. It can happen in two ways - 1) Direct discrimination where a person is not offered services or 2) indirect discrimination where services are provided in a way that is less favourable.
