SHORT-TERM ACTION
The Short-term priorities for action over the next three years
The actions listed in this section represent a series of projects involving a wide range of partners. This pioneering approach to the Local Public Service Agreement programme being negotiated with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Under this scheme, partners are working together to deliver significant improvement in each of the names areas over a 3 year period. In return surrey will receive national funding in the form of pump priming and substantial reward on achieving agreed targets.

The right people and organisations to tackle the issue
There are many organisations and people involved in helping to deliver the short term action and in shaping the longer term agenda. Most of this work is delivered through key partnerships of organisations. There are almost 100 countywide partnerships - the key ones related to each theme are listed in this section.
INDICATORS
Quality of Life and other measures to show our progress
This section identifies some of the key measures that partner organisations and the public can use to show the progress that is being made in each theme over time.
" There is a general feeling that we have been going in the right direction for about the last 5 years, and, we have made really positive strides towards workin together. In reality, only a very few community leaders have been willing to work outside the box. What is need is ten times more people empowered and enthusiastic, not just the nominal few chief executives and other individuals, so that we can have a real impact in bring us together, so that we can function together to meet the community's needs."
