Noticeboard

I am writing to advise you that work on the above scheme has been programmed to start week commencing Monday 22-2-2010 and will take approximately four weeks to complete.

The scheme will include the construction of the following:

a)        Improvements to direction signs, together with the provision of new countdown markers and chevrons, at both the eastbound and westbound A31/B3000 junctions.

b)        Localised carriageway widening on the corner of the westbound A31/B3000  diverging lane.

c)        Extension of the two splitter islands on either side of the A31.

d)        Improvements to directions signs at the Wanborough Hill and Puttenham Hill junctions.

e)        Improvements to road markings and reflective road studs on the A31 and at the Wanborough Hill and Puttenham Hill junctions .

Due to the high speed and volume of traffic using the A31, it will be necessary to impose temporary lane 1 closures (both directions but not concurrently) to protect the workforce. These will operate off-peak Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4.00pm (3.30pm on Friday).  The lane 1 closures will also operate over two weekends during the construction period, from Friday night (after the peak hour) to Sunday afternoon, to facilitate the extension of the two splitter islands.

Traffic management for the proposed signing work at the Wanborough Hill and Puttenham Hill junctions will be by portable three-way traffic signals, operating off-peak.

For safety reasons, it will necessary to suspend the two local bus stops for the duration of the works.

Our contractor will shortly be erecting advance warning signs and arranging a letter drop to properties affected by the scheme. However, any assistance you can provide in further publicising the scheme would be very much appreciated.

Information will also be available on our public website by following this link

If you have any queries or need any further information about the scheme, please do not hesitate to contact me.

HIGH SHERIFF YOUTH AWARD 2010

We have won the High Sheriff Youth Awards for the second year running, which is apparently unheard of!
So we have been very lucky.

I have just received a cheque in the post from the High Sheriff for £1000 this morming, so that is excellent news for us all to get more equipment and facilities for the youth club. So shoppping lists at the ready boys and girls. Onwards and upwards.

Well Done to all you good friends, supervisors and supports, thank you for making it such a stimulating youth club to belong to.
