Guildford Spectrum Egg and Spoon Race 27-04-08
Spectrum launches Guinness World Record attempt- Sunday 27th April 2008
As part of its 15th birthday celebrations Guildford Spectrum is attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the biggest egg and spoon race on Sunday 27th April. The event, which is sponsored by local pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis, will take place on the athletics track from 2pm - 5pm as part of an afternoon of fun challenges for all ages aimed at raising money for three local charities: the Fountain Centre, Cherry Trees and Guildford Action.The leisure complex is looking for people from all over the community to get involved and take part. Spectrum's General Manager, Claire Davenport, says, "The Community Challenge is a great way of bringing together all the different groups from the borough - from schools and youth groups, through to local businesses and clubs. Our event team has put together a whole afternoon of 'Its a Knockout' style activities for everyone from 3 years to 83 years and we are hoping lots of people will come along for some fun and to help us get Guildford into the record books!"
To enter a team for the challenge, click here to download an entry form or pick up a leaflet from Spectrum. Entry is £20 per team of four and all monies will go directly to the three charities. Entry to the Guniess World record attempt is free. Participants simply need to arrive early from 1pm on the day to register. There will be certificates for everyone taking part in the Challenge events as well as medals and prizes for winning groups.
