Furniture Project ‘Open’ Day- Thursday 1st May 2008

The Guildford Action Furniture Project warehouse is having an open day to raise awareness that the project is now open to all with those in need or crisis receiving highly discounted prices and the prices although very cheap higher for those who aren’t on benefits or aren’t in need. The warehouse is open from 10.30am till 2.30pm with The Mayor Mike Nevins open the event at 11.00am. The project has been running for over 4 years and benefits the community it serves in a number of ways.

Environmentally- recycling furniture and keeping it away from landfill. Giving donors the opportunity to donate items of furniture that have served themselves well in the past to those who are going through times of crisis and need.

 Volunteers- The project makes use of volunteers from local homelessness hostels giving a boost to their self esteem and confidence. These volunteers are crucial in the success of the project
