INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME
Effingham has a long and fascinating history. The events that have taken place here in past centuries, and the lives of the characters involved in them, become ever more astonishing and absorbing the more we learn about them. With the aim of helping the local community to learn more about this history – and to contribute to its further development – the Effingham Local History Group was formed in 2010 and held its first meeting on May 10th of that year.
The Group is investigating the history of the village of Effingham and surrounding areas, and is collecting and making accessible material such as written documents, photographs and oral accounts of Effingham life in the past. A fuller statement of our mission is contained in our Constitution.
Details of current activities are shown on the Noticeboard. If you are visiting this webpage for the first time then please explore our many other pages using the "Quick Links" shown above: you should find much to fascinate you as you explore these.
The Group meets once each month to plan and review progress on various projects, to exchange news, to present slideshows and to share an enjoyable evening together. Contact us if you wish to become a member.
