| Six Brothers Field is Chaldon's main recreational area. It is situated at the end of Willey Broom Lane and is accessible by foot along the public bridleway. It was gifted to the National Trust on the 31st December 1926 by Martin Coles Harman. |
 |
| He donated 6.69 acres for the benefit of Chaldon residents. It is used regularly by the Scouts and Chaldon Cricket Club |
|
Mr Harman was one of six brothers, and consequently asked that the field should be forever know as Six Brothers Field. Incidentally he also had five sisters.
Chaldon Cricket Club was given permission to use the field by the National Trust in 1928. In the early days they only played matches on Saturdays, however, since 1950, matches have also been played on Sundays.
The field is also used a focal point for celebrations. Chaldon Parish Council organise a Village Picnic every year which is well-attended by residents of all ages and enjoyed by all. It is held on the third Sunday in June.

SIX BROTHERS FIELD IN AUTUMN
A lovely time to walk in the field. Look out for the spindle bush on the northern side and the fungi to be found on both the open field and in the surrounding woodland fringe.
