Illustrated with individual case studies, this book covers physical, social and financial needs, across the stages of immediate, intermediate and advanced care. It is useful as a practical companion for those caring for, or reponsible for the care of, an elderly friend or relative. It is priced at £14.99
Living With Dementia, A Son's Story by Robin Spice.
This is an account of what happened when the author's mother, Julie Spice, developed dementia. It describes in detail the first realisation that something was wrong and how her sons tried to help as the illness took hold. It highlights thier feelings of apprehension, bewilderment, helplessness and frustration together with the mistakes they made along the way until Julie finally reached the end of the road. It is priced at £6.99, with proceeds being donated to the Alzheimer's Society.
The Selfish Pig's Guide to Caring by Hugh Marriott.

Six million people in the UK provide unpaid care for disabled or elderly relatives or neighbours. Oddly, though they are by definition, anything but selfish, they are prone to feelings of guilt, brought on by isolation and fatigue. This book explores what carers and others should know about caring. It is priced at £7.99
Only A Mother Could Love Him: How I Lived With and Triumphed Over ADHD by Ben Polis.
Ben has ADHD and when he was young he was violent, rude and almost impossible to teach at school. By great personal effort he managed to control his behaviour in his last year at school - and clearly succeeded as he was able to get a place at university. Surviving the Special Education Needs System by Sandy Row.

The author is mother to 4 children in the special education needs system. She wants other parents to benefit from her experiences and details the difficulties she and her husband had to overcome to find their children a satisfactory education. The book is written in a clear, conversational way and will prove invaluable to parents trying to find their way round the system. It is priced at £12.95
