About Our Organisation
What We Do at Carer Support Elmbridge
General Support
Carer Support is available to offer a range of services to the Carer. Whilst some Carers only require minimal assistance; others may need to utilise the full range of services available.
Advocacy
Carer Support can support Carers in speaking up for what they want, ensuring equality, inclusion, empowerment and rights. They may act on the Carer’s behalf to secure services that they require or rights to which they are entitled.
Information
We have an extensive resource library and access to the Internet, enabling us to provide Carers with a wide range of information regarding caring, benefits, services, etc.
Help in Obtaining Services and/or Other Benefits
Carers often don’t know where/who to turn to for the services they need. We can help the Carer to obtain the correct service for them. We are also able to advise on Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Carers Allowance and are able to help complete the forms.
Home Visits
The Carer Support Workers will, when appropriate, visit the Carer’s home.
Support Groups
A number of Support Groups are held across the area and these give Carers an opportunity to meet up and speak with the Carer Support Worker on an informal basis, if necessary.
A Listening Ear
We are able to listen to Carers and then act upon the Carer’s needs. For many Carers, just being able to have someone listen and understand is enough.
Training on Subjects Carers Feel They Would Like to Know More About
Training days are held throughout the year on a variety of topics relating to Carer’s needs, e.g. managing stress, relaxation techniques, back care, assertiveness etc.
Carer Support Elmbridge has a confidential mailing list and all Carers registered receive a free newsletter and invitations to our trips and events throughout the year.
