Situated in mid-Surrey, the parish council celebrated its centenary in 1994. It is split into 3 wards namely Beare Green, Capel and Coldharbour. The map below shows the parish outlined in red with the ward boundaries delineated in blue.

The council is responsible for the maintenance and insurance of land and property, including Capel Burial Ground, Beare Green football pitch and pavilion, and children's playgrounds and small parcels of land in all 3 wards.

It is a consultee on all planning applications for the parish. 

The council is funded by an annual precept of £32,400 collected by Mole Valley District Council as part of the council tax charge amounting to an average of £30.90 per annum for a band G property.
