Sonia Hunt - Caterham’s official Town Crier
Sonia is Caterham’s official town crier, with a framed certificate to prove it. She has been a student at the Bletchingley Skills Centre for many years and attends the computer classes, literacy, numeracy and microwave cookery class. She also attends the mobilise body and mind course. Sonia has a great love of history and is particularly interested in the Elizabethans and Tudor periods. After a speaker came to talk to the group, she became interested in a local re-enactment group and enjoys many banquets and sword fights. Sonia is also an excellent fundraiser for the centre spending many hours collecting donations from local shops for our Christmas Fayre. She is also very much in demand, in her town crier role, which she takes very seriously. She has fulfilled engagements at many local venues and although she attends these on a voluntary basis she does accept any donations for the Skills Centre. During the Summer Sonia travelled to Banbury to enter a town crying competition, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She didn’t win but found everyone very helpful and supportive and thought some of the costumes were very special. If any one would like Sonia to open a venue or attend their event - please contact her at the Bletchingley Skills Centre.
