Christmas Lunch 2008
On the 9th December the Skills Centre Christmas Lunch Party was held at Bletchingley Village Hall. Including the helpers, there were over 70 present. Dave Stanley and his son Ben cooked a most delicious lunch and the food was sponsored by the Lodge of Quality in Croydon to whom we send our grateful thanks. The meal, turkey with all the trimmings followed by Christmas pudding and mince pies could not have been better. We would also like to thank the members of the Old Caterhamians Rugby Club and their wives who gave up their time to come along and wait on us and clear up. Happy Birthday was sung, and presents given to Ellie Batley and Doreen Sharp. Altogether this was a joyous occasion. Many photographs were taken, mulled wine was drunk, crackers were pulled, karaoke sung and mottoes were read followed by the usual groans, and many lovely prizes won in the raffle all of which had been donated from local traders and friends of the centre. It was a great party and shows that for those of us who are disabled, it is the help and kindness we receive from others who are not disabled, that enables us to enjoy life. A great day was had by all! And a special thank you to Roger and Wendy Lambert for their most generous donation. Douglas Martin (Student)
