The group was formed to promote an interest in alpine plants in the wild and in cultivation. The term alpine plants is taken to include herbaceous plants, shrubs, small bulbs and orchids from all over the world that would be at home in a rock or small woodland garden, or in an unheated greenhouse or frame. The group meets on the first Thursday of each month (September to May) to share experiences of growing alpines, and to listen to an expert lecture about alpines and rock plants. We have a monthly show table, plant sales, and refreshments. Our friendly meetings offer a wealth of information and inspiration with talks by enthusiastic speakers often world authorities in their field.

The meeting includes a mini plant show, plant sales, raffle and refreshments. Growers, photographers, plant hunters, mountain walkers and couch gardeners are all very welcome.
The Woking - West Surrey Group is affiliated to the national Alpine Garden Society (http://www.alpinegardensociety.net/index.html). However, membership of the Alpine Garden Society is not essential for membership of the group. Our annual subscription is £10 or £15 for a family. Why not enjoy one of our evenings as a visitor for just £2?
Meetings are held at 7.30 (talks start at 8pm) on the first Thursday of each month, from September to May inclusive.
